I was bruxx turned off by the style that I found it difficult to get past it to try and understand the story. I like the idea of having a book about a person that is never told in that person’s voice – since that is how we know so many people in our lives, but this book did not succeed in making that interesting or believable. Not only that but some of Coelho ideas are presented in a pretty fuzzy manner, so abstract as to be nonsensical.
Slow initial sales convinced his first publisher to drop the novel, but it went on to become one of the best selling Brazilian books of all time.
